Mark Harbers

Markus Gerardus Jozef "Mark" Harbers (born April 19, 1969 in Ede ) is a Dutch politician of the VVD . From October 2017 to May 21, 2019 he was State Secretary for Justice and Security in the Rutte III cabinet .

Life

Harbers studied economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam . From 2002 to 2009 Harbers was a member of the Rotterdam City Council . Harbers has been a member of the Second Chamber of the States General since November 2009 . Harbers has been married to the internist Bart Rövekamp since 2008.

On May 21, 2019, he had to resign after he had presented the House of Representatives with figures the previous week on criminal asylum seekers detailing bicycle and shoplifting, serious crimes such as rape, 47 suspected assaults and 31 suspected murders or Manslaughter, on the other hand, were hidden in the “miscellaneous” category.
