Mark Surman

Mark Surman (2019)

Mark Surman has been the executive director of the Mozilla Foundation since 2008 .

He advocates the development of competencies in dealing with the Internet: “Web literacy” as Internet competence in the sense of media competence to understand and help shape the Internet, as well as for “Open Philanthropy”, i.e. transparent and open organized non-governmental organizations . Surman is also a consultant to the Peer to Peer University .

As managing director of the Mozilla Foundation, Surman was responsible for the start of the “Drumbeat” initiative, the Mozilla Maker Parties and the foundation's learning networks.
