Marki Alonia ( Greek Μαρκί Αλώνια ) is an archaeological site on Cyprus south of the Alykos River and about 15 km south of the modern city of Nicosia . Excavations took place here from 1991 to 2000, which uncovered the largest settlement of the Early Bronze Age in Cyprus. About 2000 m² were exposed. Nine layers could be distinguished, which make it possible to follow the development of the village over 500 years. The remains date to the Early Bronze Age I and Early Bronze Age II (around 2400 to 1900 BC).

The remains of the settlement cover an area of about 5 to 6 hectares. The standard house was rectangular, had several rooms and was made of adobe bricks with stone foundations. Usually there were two or three rooms and a courtyard. In the oldest phases, which can be attributed to the Philia culture , the village was only sparsely populated. In phase A only two houses are documented. In the later phases, the entire excavated area is densely built up. The plan of the settlement is irregular. The courtyards often had a pebble floor. There were benches built against the wall in various rooms. There were also a few stoves. Small finds mostly come from inside the houses, but not from the courtyards. Animal bones show that cattle, sheep and pigs were kept. Donkey bones were also found.

There are three molds for the manufacture of axes (or ax-shaped bars) from the village . It is the safest evidence of metalworking on the island in the Early Bronze Age to date.
