Martin Egel

Martin Egel (born January 17, 1944 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German concert and opera singer . The bass-baritone was also active in the speaking compartment.

life and career

Egel was born as the son of the singer Marga Höffgen and the conductor Theodor Egel .

After studying music in Frankfurt and Basel, he began his concert career. He made his operatic debut as Figaro at the Basel Theater . Egel subsequently appeared in a number of television productions and also participated in recordings of classical music. The record Uncle Martin Sings and Tells Good Night made him hear as a reciter of classic and modern children's literature.

He appeared at the Bayreuth Festival from 1975.
