Martin Gebauer

Martin Gebauer (born December 21, 1963 in Oberhausen ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

Life

After studying law at the Universities of Tübingen and Ferrara , Gebauer passed his first state examination in 1992 in Tübingen. He then worked until 1995 as a research assistant for Erik Jayme at the University of Heidelberg . He completed his legal clerkship at the Heidelberg Regional Court in 1997 with the second state examination at the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court . As early as 1996, Gebauer was a Dr. iur. received his doctorate, after which he worked as its scientific assistant. There he completed his habilitation after a research stay at Harvard Law School in 2006 and received the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, international private law, comparative law, European private law and civil procedure law.

This was initially followed by substitute professorships at the universities of Jena , Heidelberg and Frankfurt (Oder) . Gebauer has held the chair for civil law, international private law and comparative law at the University of Tübingen since 2009. In 2015 he was visiting professor at the University of Ferrara. Since 2014 Gebauer has also worked as a part-time judge at the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court. Gebauer mainly conducts research on international private and procedural law, the history of conflict of laws and the methods of comparative law.
