Martin Härtl

Martin Härtl (born February 4, 1975 in Erbendorf ) is a German disabled athlete .

Career

Martin Härtl took up the job of a customs officer . In addition to his professional tasks, he devoted himself to skiing , especially in the Nordic / biathlon discipline . His main task was to support disabled athletes, especially the visually impaired , in practicing this sport and to help and guide them in international competitions.

In this role, Härtl ran with the visually impaired biathlete Clara Klug in various biathlon courses both at the 2017 and 2019 World Disabled Championships and at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games . He and Klug were each runner-up in biathlon in 2017 in the distances of 6 and 12.5 km. In addition, they both reached 4th place in the 4 × 2.5 km cross-country relay. At the Biathlon World Championships in 2019 they came first and won the gold medal over 10 km. In addition, they won a bronze medal in cross-country skiing over 7.5 km.

Härtl and Klug also competed together at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games. In the 10 km discipline, they came third and won the bronze medal.

Both Klug and Härtl received the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 7, 2018 .
