Serious prospects for missions did not exist for the goalkeeper at the beginning, which is why he was awarded to the regional league team SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg in November of the same year and had to accept relegation with them at the end of the season.

In the summer of 1973 he returned to Duisburg, but initially had to be content with the role of reservist. He made his first division debut when the then 21-year-old came on as a substitute for Dietmar Linders on October 19, 1974 against Rot-Weiss Essen in the 70th minute . In May 1975 he was on the field for the first time from the start in a 2-1 defeat against FC Bayern Munich . Shortly afterwards he came to his third and final consideration in the Bundesliga. In 1976 he ended his career at MSV.
