Dietmar Linders (born November 20, 1940 ) is a former German football player .

Career

From the age of 13, Linders played in Krefeld with SuS 08 and moved to Rheydter SV in 1961 . After only a year he went back to Spiel-Sport in Krefeld, where he was in goal until 1965, in order to put on his goalkeeper gloves at Bayer 05 Uerdingen in the Association League Niederrhein the following season . With the Uerdingen he managed to move into the semi-finals of the German amateur championship in the 1966/67 season after reaching the runner-up championship, where he won his future club, MSV Duisburg , in the two games against the amateurs of 1.FC Köln (2: 0/2: 1) attracted attention.

Dietmar Linders received his first professional contract in 1967 with MSV. He remained true to the Duisburg zebras until 1976. In the first two years he was the substitute goalkeeper for Manfred Manglitz . Under coach Gyula Lóránt he made his debut on April 6, 1968 in a 7-0 home win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga; he came on in the 52nd minute for Manglitz. It was only after he left for 1. FC Köln that Dietmar Linders became number one in the 1969/70 season and stood between the posts in all games that season. At the beginning of the round, MSV had signed a new number one with Pavel Marecek , who was injured during the preparation period and only made a half-time appearance in this round. After the Duisburg team brought Volker Danner from Borussia Mönchengladbach a season later , he was relegated to the bench again. It wasn't until 1972 that he was able to oust Danner as number one. His greatest success was then also the participation in the final of the DFB Cup 1975 , which he and his teammates lost 1-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt .

During the current round of 1975/76, Gerhard Heinze came from VfB Stuttgart to the ailing MSV and Linders found himself mostly on the bench under coach Willibert Kremer . His last Bundesliga game he completed on February 7, 1976 in a 1: 2 away defeat on the Bieberer Berg against Kickers Offenbach . In 1976 he left the MSV and went to the 2nd Bundesliga North for Preußen Münster , where he ended his career in 1980. He replaced the injured Gerhard Welz in Münster and experienced his "third spring". Twice he narrowly missed promotion to the Bundesliga with the Prussians under coach Werner Biskup by third place in the table in 1978 and 1979 . In both rounds, Linders did not miss any of the 76 second division games.

Dietmar Linders played a total of 161 Bundesliga games for MSV Duisburg, as well as 125 games in the 2nd Bundesliga for Prussia Münster.

After the end of his career, Linder was the goalkeeping coach of the A and B youth at Bayer Uerdingen (where he looked after Simon Jentzsch and Holger Schonz, among others) and is now active in this role at Union Krefeld .
