Martin Senftleben

Martin Senftleben is a Dutch law scholar. He has been Professor of Intellectual Property at the University of Amsterdam since 2007 . He is particularly concerned with the internal consistency of copyright law, the accumulation and strategic use of intellectual property rights, and the balance between exclusive rights and their restrictions.

Recently, there has been a focus on the effect of intellectual property rights on the products of collaborative online collaboration and the role of the international brand regime in the exchange of cultural goods.

Before his professorship at the University of Amsterdam, Senftleben worked at the University of Amsterdam, WIPO , and the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property . He studied law at the University of Heidelberg and sacred music at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Heidelberg . He received his doctorate from Thomas Dreier and Bernt Hugenholtz on the three-stage test for exceptional provisions in international copyright law.

He is editor-in-chief of Tijdschrift voor AMI , senior consultant at Bird & Bird since 2008 , on the board of the Trademark Law Institute in Amsterdam and editor of Bijblad bij de Industriële Eigendom .
