The Marxist youth organization Young Left (MJV Young Left) was the end of 1989 in the German Democratic Republic resulting with General Assembly on 2 and 3 February 1990 in Carl-von-Ossietzky-Oberschule in Berlin-Pankow constituted leftist youth organization .

It emerged from various left regional groups and people. Through the founding, regional structures have been linked to one another and new regional groups have been formed. In the Volkskammer elections on March 18, 1990 , the MJV joined other youth associations in the form of the Alternative Youth List, which, however, narrowly missed a mandate.

After joint actions with other left-wing youth organizations, cooperation negotiations with the West German young democrats took place in 1991 . The merger was completed in 1992. The joint new association was called Young Democrats / Young Left . In the early years the association committees were made up of equal numbers between East and West.
