Mary Elizabeth Williams

Mary Elizabeth Williams (* 1977 in Philadelphia ) is an American opera singer ( dramatic soprano ).

Williams began her training at Luther College in Iowa, where she completed a bachelor's degree in English literature before devoting herself entirely to singing.

Her repertoire includes the title role in Puccini's Tosca , various leading roles in Verdi operas, for example. B. Abigaille in Nabucco , Leonora in La forza del destino or Lady Macbeth in Macbeth , as well as Elisabetta in Donizetti's Maria Stuarda .

In November 2016 she made her debut at La Scala in Milan as Serena in Gershwin's Porgy and Bess .

In the last few years she has performed regularly at the Seattle Opera , the Welsh National Opera , the Theater St. Gallen and the St. Gallen Festival .

Williams is married to the Italian tenor Lorenzo Decaro and lives in Italy.
