The machine factory Heinrich Korfmann jr. in Witten , a 1880 founded was mining a supplier whose product range of drills, Strossenbohrwagen and mining hammers up to face support - and shearers enough. Korfmann made a name for itself with innovative products such as the Korfmann Blitz , the first front-mounted steel stamp . In particular, the highly developed cutting machines, with which cutting depths of up to 3.4 m could be achieved, ensured that Korfmann machines were widely used beyond mining in the field of natural stone extraction.

After the company went bankrupt in May 2001, the buildings of the neighboring Witten Chemical Park were to be used as a logistics center. However, due to the poor condition of the building after a long period of vacancy, they had to be demolished in 2008. The Korfmann brand lives on at three different companies that manufacture ventilation systems, cutting machines and drilling technology.
