Black pottery ( Chinese  黑陶 , Pinyin hēitáo , English black pottery  - "black pottery, black pottery, black pottery, black clay", etc.) is an ancient Chinese black ceramic. The ceramic pieces are usually relatively thin-walled, their surface shining like black lacquer. It can often be found in the sites of the late Neolithic Dawenkou and Longshan cultures in China. The thinnest black ceramic is called " eggshell pottery " ( 蛋壳 陶 , dànkétáo , English eggshell pottery ).

Black pottery has a history of over 4,600 years and the art of its manufacture has recently been revived in China.
