Maslossojus

Maslossojus ( Ukrainian Крайовий молочарський союз "Маслосоюз" ) was a Ukrainian dairy cooperative . It was founded in Stryj in 1904/05 . It was originally a branch of Proswita as the Union of Russian Dairies ( Союз руських молочарських спілок ) before the company was renamed in 1907 to the National Dairy Union Maslosojuz (Крайсюковий юс юслазлзарзоз молочарзоз) . By 1914, around 100 smaller dairies had been united, which processed around 7.5 million liters of milk from Ukrainian farmers in Galicia .

After the First World War , business was resumed within the borders of the Second Polish Republic in 1924. The cooperative grew rapidly and several skilled workers, including foreign ones, were hired. The turnover in 1938 was around 12 million zlotys . In 1935, 423,000 kilograms of butter left the company. Maslossojus products were available all over Poland. In Lviv they operated five of their own shops. The leading Polish daily newspaper Ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny wrote on January 15, 1937: "The products of Maslossojus are known nationwide, and the company itself controls all milk markets in the former East Galicia."

After the Soviet occupation of eastern Poland in 1939, it was liquidated by the Soviet occupation authorities along with other cooperative organizations. After the German attack on the Soviet Union , the cooperative resumed its activities under German occupation and took over all the companies that had merged into the Soviet "Masloprom" from 1939 to 1941. Although the seat was Stryj until 1942, the trade department was in Lviv .

Finally, at the end of 1944, the Maslossojus was liquidated by the Soviet authorities after the Red Army had retaken Lviv.
