Matas Mickis

Matas Mickis (born September 15, 1896 in Kuosiai , Rokiškis district ; † December 12, 1960 in Kaunas ) was a Lithuanian agronomist, professor and politician .

Life

From 1911 to 1915, Matas Mickis lived in Saint Petersburg and took part in the labor movement there. From 1915 to 1917 he did compulsory service in the Imperial Russian Army . From 1918 he lived in Lithuania . He studied at the Rokiškis high school and in the technical center in Dotnuva near Kėdainiai . In 1929 he graduated from the Lietuvos universitetas in Kaunas . From 1940 to 1941 he was the Soviet-Lithuanian Minister of Agriculture. From 1945 he taught at the Lietuvos žemės ūkio akademija (LŽŪA). From 1945 to 1953 he was rector. From 1959 he taught as a professor.
