Swedish Mathematical Society

The Swedish Mathematical Society (Svenska Matematikersamfundet, SMS) was founded in 1950 as an association of Swedish mathematicians. Its first president was Arne Beurling . One of the reasons was the founding of two all-Scandinavian mathematical journals, Nordisk Matematisk Tidskrift and Mathematica Scandinavica . The society awards the Wallenberg Prize to young mathematicians, organizes competitions and regularly Sofia Kovalevskaya Days for teachers and students. The SMS holds an annual meeting in June and an autumn meeting.
