Matt Cutts (* 1972 or 1973) is an American software developer and head of the United States Digital Services. He was head of the web spam team at Google and developer of the SafeSearch / Google's family filter.

Cutts studied at the University of Kentucky and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . In January 2000, he started working as a software developer at Google, wrote the first version of the SafeSearch filter and became chief developer on the web spam team.
