Matthias (Jerusalem)
Matthias († 120 ) was the eighth bishop of Jerusalem .
Matthias was of Jewish origin and took over the office of bishop in 117 from John I. His term of office is marked by Roman oppression of Christian and Jewish communities in Palestine and by Jewish uprisings. No further details are known about Matthias. He died in 120 and was succeeded by Philip .
Matthias is venerated as a saint . His feast day is January 30th .
