Matthias Hutter (composer)

Matthias Hutter (born February 2, 1967 in Siegburg ) is a German music school director and composer .

He received his first piano lessons at the age of 6. At the age of 12 he wrote his first compositions, two years later he won a shared (1st) prize in the composition competition “New Music for Children and Young People” organized by the Association of German Music Schools for his “Bläserfantasie”.

After high school and community service in Cologne, Matthias Hutter began studying music at the Robert Schumann Academy of Music in Düsseldorf, which he completed in 1997 with the concert exam majoring in piano. In the same year he recorded a CD with works by Maurice Ravel . Carmen Daniela is one of his lecturers .

In 2007 the CD "Lights in the Dark" was released with vocal compositions by Matthias Hutter based on poems by the young poet Christoph Olpen, who died in 1999. In 2009 and 2014 further CD recordings of his own works followed.
