Carmen Daniela Gililov (born October 15, 1951 in Făgăraş , Romania ) is an Austrian pianist of Romanian origin.

Life

Carmen Daniela started playing the piano at the age of five. Two years later the composer Marțian Negrea discovered them . At the age of ten she wrote her own compositions and studied with the composer Alfred Mendelsohn in Bucharest , who presented them on television programs. Further radio and television appearances followed. In 1968 she received a scholarship to study piano and composition in Vienna . After the respective exams, she worked for two years as a lecturer in the piano major at the Vienna Conservatory until 1975 . Contacts with Claudio Arrau , Jörg Demus and Paul Badura-Skoda as well as studies with Viola Thern and Roland Raupenstrauch as well as at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin with Gerhard Puchelt and Helmut Riebensam perfected her training in the following years. In the meantime, she met the pianist Pavel Gililov in 1978 , whom she married in the same year. Until 2001 both were on the road together both privately and in chamber music.

From 1979 to 1989 she taught piano at the University of Cologne . In addition, from 1981 to 2001 she led a master class with a major in piano at the Rhineland University of Music (first in Wuppertal , then at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf ).

She appeared as a guest performer at music festivals and was the director of the International Music Festival in Castles and Palaces , which have been held annually in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1987. She has given international master classes in Europe and Asia. She also took part in the performance of the entire piano work by Joseph Haydn on the occasion of his 250th birthday, which was presented within two Haydn interpretation courses. The Bach – Handel – Scarlatti master class for the 300th birthday of the composers mentioned, which was followed by an international piano competition, was also important.

In 1997 she was appointed director of the Vienna Art University in Gwangju (South Korea). From 2001 to 2003 she was the director of the music school in Bad Berleburg . She has Austrian citizenship and lives in the Bergisches Land .

Daniela sometimes taught music at several schools. In 2008 she was featured in the German documentary soap Frauentausch in episode 192. Among other things, there is an article about her in the Rheinisch Bergischer Calendar 2015. Heimatbuch für das Bergisches Land.

Awards

In 1978 she received a silver medal at the Giovanni Battista Viotti International Piano Competition in Vercelli, Italy. In 2020 she also received the Badge of Honor from the Bergisch Gladbach City Association for her cultural volunteer work.
