Marțian Negrea

Marțian Negrea (born January 29, 1893 in Vorumloc, today Valea Viilor , † July 13, 1973 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian composer .

Life

Negrea studied in Sibiu from 1910 to 1914 and was then a student of Eusebius Mandyczewski and Franz Schmidt in Vienna . He was a teacher at the Cluj Conservatory from 1921 and at the Bucharest Conservatory from 1941 .

He composed an opera , Marin Pescarul ( Marin, the Fisherman ), based on the novella Päcat boieresc [ Boyar Sin ] by Mihail Sadoveanu , two Romanian rhapsodies , a symphonic fantasy, a symphonic suite, a spring symphony , chamber music works, an oratorio , a requiem , Choirs, songs and film music.
