Matthias Schumann

Matthias Schumann (* 1959 in Dortmund ) is a German business IT specialist.

Life

After studying business administration at the universities of Bielefeld and Göttingen, Schumann worked as a research assistant at the chair for business administration, in particular business informatics, at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg .

Since 1991 he has held a professorship for business administration and business informatics (professor for application systems and e-business) at the University of Göttingen . He is the managing director of the Institute for Information Systems at the university as well as director of the joint computing center of the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Social Sciences. From April 2001 to March 2005 he was a vice president of the University of Göttingen.

In his research, Schumann deals in particular with the digitization of production processes, the digitization of knowledge work, competence measurement & e-learning as well as social media in the corporate context.

Former research focuses include research on information systems at financial service providers, information systems in personnel management, innovative technologies and architectures, convergent markets of the internet economy, resource conservation through IT use and knowledge and education management.
