The Matthiasstraße is a street in Trier in the district of Trier-South . It is the southern extension of Saarstrasse and forms the core of the formerly independent street village of St. Matthias, which was incorporated into Trier in 1888. The street is named like the district after the Benedictine Abbey of St. Matthias , which is located at the southern end of the street. The eponymous abbey shapes the street and is a listed building. The Schneiderskreuz is also at number 44 . The street is one of the main business streets in Trier.
