Matto (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Matto , also called matzo, was a unit of measure and was used as a measure of measure for packing several strands of Italian silk yarn .

In organzine silk ( warp - thread ):

  • 1 Matto = 4 bundles or Knup (p) s = 24 strings

(This container is not to be confused with the container as a dependent sub-unit of a strand).

For trame silk ( weft or weft silk ):

  • 1 Matto = 16 struts.

The length of the strut was 40 inches for undyed silk, and that of dyed silk was slightly shorter.
