The house Mauerstraße 24, 26 is a building in Darmstadt .
History and description
The house at Mauerstraße 24, 26 was built around 1864 according to plans by the military building councilor Ludwig Weyland. The building served as a “bread and flour store” for the “Grand Ducal Provision Office” in Magdalenenstrasse. Stylistically, the unadorned building, which extends 22 meters deep into the interior of the block, belongs to late classicism . The free-standing, gable- free building has external walls made of natural stone .
The building was privatized around 1900. The store floors were then converted into apartments. The external appearance of the house is largely unchanged.
Monument protection
The property is a typical example of the late classical style in Darmstadt. For architectural and city-historical reasons, the building is a listed building .
