Maurice Ahern

Maurice Ahern ( Irish Muiris Ó hEachthairn , * 1938/1939) is an Irish politician and member of the Fianna Fáil .

Ahern was first elected to the Dublin City Council in 1999 for the Cabra-Glasnevin constituency. 2000 to 2001 he held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin ( Lord Mayor of Dublin ). His brother Bertie Ahern also held this position in the 1980s . In 2004 Maurice Ahern was re-elected to the city council. In the next elections in 2009, however, he was unable to defend his seat there. Furthermore, he ran in June 2009 in the by-election in the constituency of Dublin Central , but could not prevail against Maureen O'Sullivan .

Maurice Ahern is the brother of the two politicians Bertie and Noel Ahern . He is married and has several children. In November 2009, Ahern's eldest son was found dead in his Dublin apartment.
