Noel Ahern

Noel Ahern ( Irish Nollaig Ó hEachthairn , born December 28, 1944 in Dublin ) is an Irish politician and was a member of the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament , from 1992 to 2011 .

Ahern studied at University College Dublin and the College of Commerce in Rathmines, Dublin. 1985 to 2002 Ahern was a member of the Dublin City Council . In 1992 he was first elected to the Fianna Fáil in the constituency of Dublin North-West in the Dáil Éireann . After his re-election in May 2007, Ahern was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance in June . His title was Minister of State with special responsibility for Office of Public Works . Previously, from June 18, 2002 to June 14, 2007, he was Minister of State in the Ministry of the Environment and Minister of State in the Ministry of Community , Rural Areas and Gaeltacht .

After Brian Cowen became the new Taoiseach , Ahern became Minister of State at the Department of Transport with special responsibility for road safety in May 2008 . In the elections on the 31st, he did not run again.

Noel Ahern is married and has two sons and a daughter. His brothers Bertie and Maurice Ahern are also politically active.
