Maurizio Lazzarato is a sociologist and philosopher of postoperaism .

Life

Maurizio Lazzarato, who lives and works in Paris , studied at the University of Padua in the 1970s and participated in the Autonomia Operaia movement . After being charged, along with a number of other Italian activists, he went into exile in Paris to avoid prosecution. The charges were not put down until the 1990s.

Lazzarato works as a freelance researcher on the topics of immaterial labor , fragmentation of the wage labor force , ontology of work, cognitive capitalism and post-socialist movements. He re-opened the work of Gabriel Tarde (1843–1904) for postoperaism. Lazzarato also writes about cinema, video and new image production techniques. For the Venice Biennale , he developed the Iodencies / travail immatériel project together with the Knobotic research group . Since 1990 he has written texts for exhibition catalogs in collaboration with Angela Melitopoulos .

Lazzarato also takes part in actions and reflections on the intermittents of the spectacle ( intermittents du spectacle ) at the Coordination des intermittents et précaires d'Ile-de-France (CIP-IDF) group, where he leads a research project on the status of intermittents.

After contributing regularly to the magazine Futur antérieur , he founded the magazine Multitudes with others , of which he is an editor.
