from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The City of Zurich's Max Frisch Prize is a literary prize awarded by the City of Zurich in memory of Max Frisch . The prize is intended to honor authors whose work addresses fundamental issues of democratic society in an artistically uncompromising way. The prize was created in 1996 and was first awarded in 1998. It is awarded every four years to writers in German-speaking countries and is endowed with a total of 50,000 francs (as of 2018). The winners are determined by the Board of Trustees of the Max Frisch Foundation . Since 2018, in addition to a main prize endowed with 40,000 francs, a sponsorship award has been awarded with 10,000 francs in prize money “to also be able to support writers of the younger generation”.
