Hermann Max Mucker (born March 29, 1876 in Wurzen ; † March 22, 1960 ibid) was a German politician ( SPD , USPD , SED ) and from 1919 to 1933 a member of the Saxon People's Chamber and the Saxon State Parliament .

Life

After attending the 2nd community school, Mucker learned the painting trade. In 1894 he joined the SPD. Due to his political activities, Mucker had difficulties finding a job after the end of his apprenticeship and therefore opened a tobacco and magazine shop in Wurzen, which he ran almost until the end of his life. From 1903 Mucker was chairman of the Social Democratic People's Association of Wurzen and head of the Volkszeitung branch for the Muldental . From 1912 to 1933 he was a city councilor in Wurzen, and for a long time he was the head of the city. In 1918 Mucker was chairman of the local workers 'and soldiers' council. In 1919 he was elected to the Saxon People's Chamber for the USPD and to the Saxon Landtag in 1920, to which he belonged until 1933 (from 1922 for the SPD). In five electoral terms (1920 to 1933) he served there as secretary. After the “ seizure of power ” by the National Socialists, Mucker stopped his political work. He had to endure several house searches and was temporarily under police supervision. In 1944 he was arrested and sent to a concentration camp , from which he was released after three weeks. In 1945 he was a co-founder of the local SPD group in Wurzen. Mucker was one of the supporters of the forced unification of the SPD and KPD to form the SED . In the 1950s Mucker published a number of articles on the history of the local labor movement in the magazine Der Rundblick , which was published by the Kulturbund .
