Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base

Maxwell Air Force Base (the official name is Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base ) is a location of the United States Air Force near Montgomery in the US state of Alabama . Among other things, the Air University is located there , a training facility subordinate to the Air Education and Training Command for the advanced training of officers and non-commissioned officers of the US Air Force.

The site comprises two properties, Maxwell Air Force Base (AFB) in northwest Montgomery and the Gunter Annex in northeast of the city.

Maxwell AFB is still an active military airfield . The air force stationed there is the 908th Airlift Wing of the US Air Force Reserves with C-130 H Hercules aircraft.

Gunter Annex was once an airfield (Gunter Field). The flight operations areas were sold to the city of Montgomery as building land in the 1970s. Today the US Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy is stationed there.
