Mechanical vibration

The term mechanical oscillation ( vibration ) stands

generally as a generic term for:

  • Vibrations or shocks (= the vibrations (see below) of materials and bodies) and
  • Bumps ;

also for:

  • the mathematical-physical description of vibrations ( oscillations );
  • the effect of mechanical vibrations (see above) on humans, see human vibration ;
  • the pressure and density fluctuations in elastic media, see sound .
