The medal "For the consolidation of the brotherhood in arms" ( Russian Медаль "За укрепление боевого содружества" ) was a military award of the Soviet Union , which was created on May 25, 1979 in one stage. More than 5,000 medals have been awarded.

Award terms

The medal could be awarded to all members of the Soviet Army as well as to members of the allied brother armies of the Warsaw Pact who had made a contribution to strengthening brotherhood in arms relations between the armies and fleets of the socialist countries. The group of people included included not only members of the armed forces, but also employees of the organs of state security and the interior as well as citizens of other socialist and friendly states of the Warsaw Pact. The medal could only be awarded once to each person.

Appearance and wearing style

The 32 mm diameter medal is made of brass and has a golden shimmer. The obverse is dominated by an enamelled red star on which a coat of arms with the inscription За укрепление Боевого Содружества  (for the strengthening of the brotherhood in arms) and СССР  (USSR) can be seen. In the background, at the lower edge of the medal, a pair of diagonally crossed swords and two laurel branches bent upwards can be seen. The lapel of the medal is smooth and empty. The medal was worn on the upper left chest of the borrower on a red pentagonal clasp, the left hem of which is blue (4 mm) - white (1 mm) and the right hem is green (4 mm) - white (1 mm). A vertical central stripe is woven into the middle of the ribbon, showing the color combination yellow-black-yellow (1 mm each).
