Medal 1815

The 1815 medal was a Swiss award.

This award was approved by a law of April 20, 1815 and a decree of June 12 confirmed it. It was not issued until October 15, 1815.

The purpose of the honor was the recognition of duty and honor for four Swiss regiments . These were under his command until Napoleon's abdication . Since the loyalty to Switzerland was greater than to France , the treaty concluded in 1812 for this form of Swiss military service was terminated.

According to a decree of August 24, 1815, the award could also be given to the Swiss military, who in Ghent named King Louis XVIII. supported. Only 100 awards were allowed for this.

Order decoration

The order decoration was a silver medal. One side showed the federal banner with the inscription: "Swiss Confederation 1815". The inscription as a motto : "Loyalty and honor" was on the other side surrounded by an oak wreath.

Ribbon and way of wearing

The ribbon was a white and red ribbon. The award was worn in the buttonhole.
