Medal for Art and Science (Saxony-Altenburg)

The medal for art and science was donated in gold and silver by Duke Ernst I of Saxony-Altenburg on December 30, 1874 .

The medal could be awarded to all persons for special merits and achievements in the field of art or science.

The medal is a medal with the portrait of the reigning duke looking to the left on the obverse. All around the writing "ERNST HERZOG ZU SACHSEN ALTENBURG". A laurel wreath can be seen on the back, in the middle of which it reads “MERIT FOR ART AND SCIENCE”.

The ribbon is ponceau red with dark green borders.
