Medal for Merit in the Administration of Justice

The medal for services in the administration of justice was a state award of the GDR and was donated on August 14, 1965. It was awarded for services in the field of socialist justice. It was first awarded on September 4, 1965 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the democratic justice system. The award took place annually and was limited in terms of the amount awarded.

  • I. level in gold: 10 carriers annually
  • Second level in silver: 25 carriers annually
  • III. Bronze level: 60 carriers annually.

Appearance

The medal with a diameter of 30 mm is either gold-plated, silver-plated or made of bronze due to the grade awarded. On her obverse she shows the state coat of arms of the GDR as well as the writing above: FOR MERIT and below: IN DER RECHTSPFLEGE . The lettering and the national coat of arms are enclosed by a laurel wreath. The lapel is kept smooth and shows the embossed inscription in the middle: DAS / RECHT / MUSS DEM / VOLKE / SERVEN . The medal was worn on a 24 × 12 mm red pentagonal clasp, which shows three 1.5 mm wide stripes in the middle with a distance of 1.5 mm each, which are either gold, silver or black, on the left Chest side.
