The Good Schönerlinde is a country Berlin belonging Stadtgut in Schönerlinde , a district of Wandlitz in Brandenburg Barnim . It was laid out at the beginning of the 20th century by the Berlin magistrate to manage the newly created sewage fields . The 1978 ha area was later used for agriculture and livestock. The buildings and areas of the Schönerlinde estate are currently the headquarters of the operating company Stadtgüter Berlin mbH . Large parts of the urban estate are being restructured into an industrial area, other areas are leased to private individuals who continue to farm there.

history

The Berlin magistrate acquired larger areas outside the Berlin city limits in the Schönerlinde district on Mühlenbecker Strasse and had an estate built on the road between Schönerlinde and Mühlenbeck to manage the Rieselfelder until 1910 . It soon became clear that vegetables and grass thrived particularly well on the sprinkled areas. The dried fields were soon used to better supply the Berliners and pasture areas were set up. Simple, multi-story brick buildings were built as mass accommodation for the workers .

When the Red Army moved into the German capital at the end of the Second World War , its commanders set up accommodation on the estate. The buildings and fields were returned to East Berlin property in 1950 . - In connection with the collectivization of agriculture , the people's own estate (VEG) Schönerlinde was created in the 1960s . It operated agriculture and animal husbandry (pigs, dairy cows, horses). For this purpose, new mass stalls were built, such as a 150 meter long cattle barn or a pigsty. Around 600 people found work at VEG.

After the fall of the Wall , public property was transferred to a limited liability company and reverted to the city of Berlin as property. After modernizing the systems and technology, around three quarters of the employees were laid off. The remaining employees specialized in dairy farming . They now care for 1020 dairy cows, 800 of which are housed in the converted large barn. The estate also operates so-called grassland management , i.e. H. Above all, it produces the required feed itself and also offers training positions. Stadtgüter Berlin mbH, with its eight production sites, is now one of the largest milk producers in Germany (all as of 2003). In 2010 there were also indications on the Internet that dairy cows were still successfully kept on Gut Schönerlinde.

The facility currently operates as Stadtgut Nord - Gut Schönerlinde / Wansdorf . - The farm workers' quarters have now been converted into normal apartments for families, but the facade has hardly changed.

Future development

In 1992, the concrete roof tile factory Dachziegelwerke Nelskamp was the first new user to move to a part of the former municipal estate. The operating company hopes to attract more large companies. Some small craft firms have already set up shop here. - Long-term culture is to be established in a former large storage facility. To this end, an exhibition was opened in 2009 by ABM forces, which presents the history of Berlin's city estates and their manors from the imperial era to the present day. Further events such as readings or concerts are planned.

The former pigsty, which was converted into an administration building in the late GDR times, is being converted into an office building. The archive of the Berlin city goods has already moved there.
