Medi-Cal

Medi-Cal is the name of Medicaid -Programmes in the US - State of California . It is jointly operated by the California Department of Health Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a federal agency that oversees all Medicaid programs.

It is considered a so-called Medical Assistance Program within the meaning of Title XIX of the US Social Security Act , which became law in 1965 . Medi-Cal has existed since 1966 .

Medicaid is a government health care program primarily for low paid workers . Each state has a certain degree of freedom with regard to the benefits and eligibility to receive Medicaid benefits. In addition, some states, including California, give the program its own name, here Medi-Cal.
