Thaworn Wiratchant ( Thai : ถาวร วิ รัตน์ จันทร์ - pronounced: [ tʰă-won wí-rát-ʤan ], born December 28, 1966 ) is a Thai professional golfer on the Asian Tour and the European Tour .

Career

After a very successful amateur career, at the end of which Wiratchant won three major Asian tournaments in 1987 - the Thailand Amateur Open Championship , the Singapore Amateur Open Championship and the South East Asian Games - he became a professional golfer at the end of that successful year .

He has been playing regularly on the Asian Tour since 1995 and has so far celebrated the record number of eighteen tournament wins, one of which was also on the European Tour. Wiratchant won the money rankings for the 2005 and 2012 seasons.

Since his victory at the Indonesia Open 2005, which earned him the right to play on the European Tour, Wiratchant has also played numerous events in this tournament series. At the Open Championship in July 2006, he took a good 31st place.

His highly unorthodox golf swing - his hands are directly over his head at the end of the back swing and his swing through is long and pronounced - is his trademark and is admired and photographed again and again. Wiratchant himself says he sees no need to change this as it has been working successfully since his amateur days.

He played for his country twice in the Dunhill Cup and in the World Cup . In the Asian team, Wiratchant was represented in two previous Dynasty Cup matches (victorious), as well as in the 2006 newly created Royal Trophy .

The single and lover of fast cars lives in Bangkok .
