Media Resource Locator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Media Resource Locator (MRL) is used in media players to identify and locate a multimedia source , similar to how a URL describes a page on the Internet. An MRL has a similar structure to a URI . MRLs are e.g. B. used in the media players VideoLAN and Xine . In this way, for example, a chapter of a DVD or a streaming format can be played with a command in the command line as an input medium . However, the syntax of the individual types is not standardized.
