KK Media Works ( Japanese 株式会社 メ デ ィ ア ワ ー ク ス , Kabushiki kaisha Media Wākusu ) was a Japanese publisher founded on October 15, 1992 as part of Kadokawa Group Holdings . On April 1, 2008, the company merged with ASCII to become ASCII Media Works , which continued the Media Works publications.

The publisher published a number of magazines on anime , manga and video games , as well as books and light novels . A number of magazines and books were brought out under the name Dengeki ( 電 撃 ), such as the manga magazine Dengeki Daioh , the game magazine Dengeki G's Magazine and the imprint Dengeki Bunko . The company was also involved in the production of anime.

Events

The company hosted several events. At Dengeki Taishō ( 電 撃 大 賞 ) awards for light novels and illustrations have been given annually since 1994 . The Dengeki Comic Grand Prix ( 電 撃 コ ミ ッ ク グ ラ ン プ リ ) has been awarded for one-shot manga since 2001 and the Dengeki hp Tampen-Shōsetsu-shō ( 電 撃 hp 短 編 小説 賞 ) was awarded annually from 2000 to 2006 for short stories and novels.
