Medical wellness

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Medical Wellness (Engl. The medical well-being ) is an anglicized , who as effective advertising slogan has found its way into the German language and especially in marketing is used the health care industry. Medical wellness is considered a specialization or variant of wellness , even if it is sometimes difficult to differentiate. The following content is associated with the term :

"Medical wellness includes health-scientifically supported measures for the sustainable improvement of the quality of life and the subjective feeling of health through self-dependent prevention and health promotion as well as the motivation for a health-conscious lifestyle. Medical wellness is not a medical treatment , but behavioral medicine . "

At the same time, the definition of the term is still in a dynamic process, which has hindered a general and consensual description of medical wellness so far. For this reason, efforts are being made by various groups and associations to formulate and agree on uniform guidelines and content standards. Since the term is not protected by law, it can be used for a variety of cures, medical applications and measures, including medical treatments, without a general performance review. For this reason, there are already fears that the term will be watered down, similar to the word " wellness ", and thus a loss of quality in terms of content in a strong growth market.

Status

Medical wellness has gained in importance in Germany in the past few years within certain vocational training courses. The Coburg University of Applied Sciences has been offering an integrative health promotion course since October 2007 , which also teaches medical wellness topics. In addition, medical wellness has become an economic factor in the health, tourism and leisure sectors with a growing range of travel and other types of events , some of which are strongly target group-oriented ( best ager ) .
