The company was formed in 1996 from the two companies Carl Hartwig AS in Bergen, which had been selling health products since 1897, and Reidar Holmsen AS, which had been producing and selling laboratory equipment (in vitro) since 1936.
Medinor has been part of the Axis-Shield Corporation since 1999 .
