The Medical History Museum of the University of Kyūshū ( Japanese 九州 大学 医学 歴 史館 , Kyūshū Daigaku Igaku Rekishikan ) is dedicated to the origins and development of the Faculty of Medicine and serves under the motto “ Preserve the old, acquire the new” ( 温 故知 新 , onko chishin ) at the same time as a place of encounter, training and information.

The founding of the museum goes back to an initiative among the graduates of the medical faculty, who accumulated considerable financial resources over many years and worked out a basic concept in coordination with the faculty. The museum was established in April 2015 to the campus of the University of Kyushu coordinates: 33 ° 36 '26.94 "  N , 130 ° 24' 59.23"  O in Fukuoka opened (Japan) and as a foundation of the Alumni Association passed the faculty. At the same time, a post for a curator was created and filled.

The external shape of the building is based on the anatomy of the former lecture hall. The hall on the ground floor introduces the development of medical education since the late Edo period and the development of the medical school. Important professors of the faculty and their historical achievements are presented on the 1st floor. An “IT room” is intended for training courses, conferences, etc. In addition to the exhibits and display boards, large quantities of digitized materials are available. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are special exhibitions on selected topics.
