Panevėžys Medical School

The Panevėžys Medical School (lit. Panevėžio medicinos mokykla ) was a medical school from 1941 to 2002 in Panevėžys , Lithuania .

history

The Sisters of Mercy began on March 1, 1941. The courses were organized and the curriculum was written by the doctor, therapist and later Professor Mykolas Marcinkevičius (1882–1987). On October 15, 1942, the first class of graduates completed the course. School operations ceased during the Second World War . On December 1, 1944, 50 students were accepted. It graduated in June 1946.

In September 1946 the two-year Akuscher School was founded, which was integrated into the nurse school on February 1, 1949 and renamed Panevėžio akušerių mokykla . In June 1947 the first Akuscher graduate class graduated. In 1953 the school was renamed the Medical School, and in 1991 it became the Panevėžys Higher Medical School. On August 30, 2002, it was reorganized with other city high schools. The Panevėžys College was established . The medical school became the Faculty of Health, Social Care, and Education . On September 1, 2007, it became the Faculty of Medicine and Social Sciences at the university . On June 26, 2013, the faculty became the Chair of Biomedical Sciences .
