The Harlesiel outdoor swimming pool is an outdoor swimming pool in Harlesiel in the immediate vicinity of the beach.

history

The basin was built in 1959. Initially it was planned for the adjacent campsite . In 1968 an oil heater was installed to heat the water. As day guests increasingly used the swimming pool, entrance fees were taken away. Due to sand drifts, it became necessary to protect the pool from contamination by means of a board wall.

Furnishing

The non-swimmer pool measures 6 × 12 meters and has a sloping depth of 30 to 90 centimeters. The swimmer's pool measures 25 × 12 meters and is about 185 centimeters deep. A diving basin branches off to the east. In addition to the swimmer's pool, there is also a toddler pool, a 1-meter diving board and a 3-meter diving board. The system is operated with salt water .

location

The outdoor pool is located directly on the jetty at the mouth of the Harle in the Wadden Sea between the harbor basin, campsite, parking lot and the adjacent sandy beach. The road to the parking lot runs east of the pool and the pedestrian path to the beach runs west. Because of the inconsistent weather conditions and the tidal range of the sea, it is operated in the summer months from mid-May to mid-September to supplement the beach.
