Manga & Entertainment Expo
The Manga & Entertainment Expo (MEX-Berlin) is the amalgamation of the two largest anime conventions in Berlin , the AniMaCo and Mega Manga Convention (MMC-Berlin). Previously, the events took place at the end of October / beginning of November in Berlin's Fontane Haus and alternately shared the same venue every year. MEX Berlin has been taking place at Messe Berlin since 2019 . With more than 16,000 visitors (2019), it is one of the larger conventions in Germany.
development
After the MMC took place for the first time in 2002 and 2003, there was a break in 2004 for personal reasons. The AniMaCo , which took place in the Fontane House for the first time in 2004, formed as a replacement . After the success of the AniMaCo , the organizers of both conventions agreed on an annual change. Since then, the two separately and independently organized events have continued to develop. In 2018, the organizers of the two conventions announced during the closing program of AniMaCo 2018 that they would merge. Instead of the AniMaCo and the Mega Manga Convention, the Manga & Entertainment Expo (MEX-Berlin) will be held together from 2019 . The venue is Messe-Berlin .
