Mehmet Günsür (writer)

Mehmet Günsür (* 1955 in Istanbul ; † June 19, 2004 there ) was a Turkish writer, painter and copywriter.

Mehmet Günsür attended Galatasaray High School , an elite school in Istanbul. 1974 Günsür joined the Labor Party of Turkey and worked in its press department. He was then admitted to the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, which he graduated in 1984. He worked for various advertising agencies as a copywriter, creative director and manager. He also appeared in public as a painter and had several exhibitions.

From 1995 onwards he published several books as private prints. His only published work, the volume of short stories İçeriye Bakan Kim? (“Who is looking inside?”) Received the 2003 Sait Faik Literature Prize , one of Turkey's most coveted literary prizes. Günsür was considered to be one of the most important narrators of modern Turkish literature.
