Multilingual children's book
Under multilingual children's books refers to books for children that tell a story in two or more languages in parallel in a book edition, sometimes supplemented by a multilingual CD or DVD.
Since the 2000s, bilingual and multilingual children's books have increasingly appeared on the German book market. This development takes into account the changing society, in which migrants and bilingual or multilingual families play an increasingly important role. While child bilingualism ( multilingualism ) was viewed as "excessive demands" until the 1970s, today it is viewed as a positive factor in the cognitive and emotional development of children.
Smaller publishers in particular are involved in the field of multilingualism. Children's books in several language combinations are also increasingly being used by the big players in the publishing industry, such as B. the Langenscheidt publishing house discovered.
