Meiji Yasuda Seimei Hoken Sōgo-gaisha ( Japanese 明 治安 田 生命 保 険 相互 会 社 , German "Meiji-Yasuda Life Insurance", English Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company ) is a Japanese company with its headquarters in Tokyo . As an insurance company, the company focuses on life insurance and also offers other types of insurance.

In January 1880, Yasuda Zenjirō founded the predecessor of the later Yasuda Seimei Hoken Sōgo-gaisha ( 安 田 生命 保 険 相互 会 社 , English The Yasuda Mutual Life Insurance Company ). In July 1881, the Meiji Seimei Hoken Kabushiki kaisha ( 明治 生命 保 険 株式会社 ) was founded by Abe Taizō, a student of Fukuzawa Yukichi .

On June 30, 1947, the Yasuda Seimei Hoken Sōgo-gaisha and on July 9, the Meiji Seimei Hoken Sōgo-gaisha ( 明治 生命 保 険 相互 会 社 , English Meiji Life Insurance Company ) was founded.

On January 1, 2004, the two merged to form the current company.

On November 4, 2010, Meiji Yasuda Seimei Life Insurance signed a contract for a long-term strategic cooperation with the Hanover-based insurance group Talanx AG.
